Welcome to Wood You Like's Newsletter: January 2010
Happy New Year! May it be a prosperous, healthy and very special one for you and your family.
A warm welcome too to everyone who receives this newsletter for the very first time - we love to stay in contact with all of our clients and contacts with regular updates, new product launches and other news about natural wooden flooring.
We've started the first month in this first year of a brand new decade with a brand new style and design of our monthly newsletter. The main reason for this is the very recent switch in the software application we are using to keep in contact with you. Which also means everyone is now under the same "newsletter roof", plus you should notice a better and more efficient follow-up on any of your enquiries or questions than before.
Rest assured, most of the regular newsletter items are still the same. Which, of course, brings us swiftly to:
That's two regular items combined in one I hear you say. And you are absolutely right!
From this month on the Newsletter Readers Only offer will be an ongoing offer - reduced delivery charges on all your maintenance product orders, no matter how often you place an order with us though our secure Webshop or by phone.
You see, the most frequently ordered product range in our Webshop (and over the phone) are maintenance products, because everyone who has a natural wooden floor knows (or should know) that treating it to some TLC twice a year brings out the best of its beautiful character and keeps it protected against dirt and drips for a long time.
So instead of changing our offer to you every month - which might not always be appropriate for you - we've decided to stick to the one offer we know you would benefit from, over and over again (as long you are on our list of newsletter readers) with the ongoing promo-code (subscribe to our newsletter to find out - see form below)
Normally the delivery method you have to select in our secure Webshop for two or more maintenance products is GBP 15.00 ex VAT - you however are now entitled to select a lower charge: GBP 8.50 ex VAT per order. On the left of every newsletter you will find a link to an online article that shows you the three simple steps needed to profit from this offer. Don't forget to add your promo-code in you order!
We are cat lovers ourselves, and although Ton sometimes has to chase these inquisitive creatures from the room he's installing a wood floor, often they stay well away from the noise and going on's during the works. Until......
As one of our DIY-clients related to us:
"Hi Karin,
Followed advice from your good selves which has not been flawed so far. Sanding pine boards finishing with 100 grit. Applied Blanchon coloured HWO as per instructions just finished last night.
Only to find that between the sanding process and the oiling process our cat had walked on the bare pine with wet feet. These paw prints were not visible until the HWO was applied but now we have some well defined paw prints in numerous places. They feel slightly raised to the touch.
My question is will they fade over time or should I resort to the wire wool treatment?"
Lovely picture! We were happy to email him the following advice:
It's always the same with these nice creatures: they hide away right up to the moment you absolutely do not want them on your floor! (Happened to us right after applying a coloured oil once and we learned it is absolutely not recommendable to try to chase the cat from a wet floor!).
It is best to lightly sand the effected areas, careful you do not put too much pressure on it to avoid "closing-up" of the grain. Then apply the second coat of HardWaxOil - after vacuum cleaning of course - according the instructions.
The paw prints - thanks for your picture - might slightly shine through in the beginning, that will fade over time and you can "speed" this up by applying a wax polish after the HardWaxOil is fully cured = 2 weeks.
Hope this helps
(keep the cat firmly away until you're finished ;-))

And finally: we can report firm progress on the planned Wood Floor Installation Manual - paperback version. Our editor is now going through the final version, after which a first proof of the actual paperback should be with us beginning February. Once again - we'll keep you posted.
