Time flies, we're already in high summer and the long cold winter seems years ago! If you are enjoying a well deserved holiday or time off we hope the sun shines on you (frequently).

This month we have some exciting news and announcements for you, so sit tight and lets talk about the wonderful versatile world of natural wooden flooring.

I'll bet you're wondering what on earth fishing has to do with natural wooden flooring. Nothing really, however it is a genuine question.

This month it is already 5 years ago we opened our showroom in the lovely village of Charing. We've welcomed many visitors in our cosy shop, talked with every single one about all the different aspects of wooden flooring, discussed many options available and of course answersed many incoming questions - which beginning this year even resulted in our first paperback.

Living and working in Kent means you're never far away from the coast and sea. And as a small celebration of our 5th year in our rural Kent showroom we are offering you the chance to win one of five £20.00 vouchers from Sea Searchers Boat Trips in Ramsgate (Kent).

If you win you can redeem the voucher for a few hours fishing at sea or for one of their "seal and wildlife watching" trips.

I hear you asking: what do I have to do to win one of these vouchers? Simply respond to the survey below.

We believe firmly in delivering quality and value for money. The feedback we receive from you and others tells us we're on the right track. But we want to know more as we also firmly believe in constant improvement.

Wood You Like seems to attract a rather large number of self-builders/renovators from all over the UK (and further afield: skilled diy-ers from France, Germany and even from the USA have found their way to our inbox and online shop). From one of these highly skilled diy-ers - or should we call them semi-professionals? - we received the following email:

"Our house to be featured in Self-Build & Design" - read the whole story here. Below is one of the pictures John kindly forwarded to us, showing off the Duoplank Oak Rustic floor in their hallway.

And then we received the following news, "wrapped" in a parcel: Wood You Like has been voted "Best Flooring Retailer" (1 - 2 stores) by the readers of Interiors Monthly 2010 Awards.

The managzine also featured us in this years January issue under the title: Wood Counselllors. We've been called many things before, but never counsellors. It does have a nice ring to it though.

The framed certificate has found its proud place in our shop window.

Wooden flooring and UFH: a recurrent subject of questions coming in. This time our advice was asked on Solid Random Width wooden flooring in combination with UnderFloor Heating. You can read the discussion here.

Books: the Wooden Floor Installation Manual definitely proves to be popular. We ourselves dispatch the paperback to clients every week, closely followed by dispatches by both Amazon.co.uk and even Amazon.com.

Last month we reached the first mile-stone of 100 paperbacks sold (not counting the number of times the E-version with the same title was bought). That's an average of 25 books per month of which we feel rather proud.

Equi Classic in online brochure: the 10mm T&G wood strip flooring mentioned in last month's newsletter has now been added to the Full Colour Online Wooden Floor Range Brochure (Duoplank and Solid Range). With help from our Design Parquet manufacturer's "parquet navigator" all of the wood species available in the Equi Classic have been transformed into high quality interior design images, showing you how the floor will/can look in your own home.
