Welcome to Wood You Like's September 2010 Newsletter

Welcome!

Media_1275471385402

This must be the fourth year running that the minute the Summer School Holidays end, the Summer weather returns!
We do hope you had a wonderful holiday and managed to get some sort of sun tan after al.

But enough about the weather, lets talk about the wonderful - and for us at the moment rather hectic - world of natural wooden flooring. There's plenty to tell.

Who else wants the results of the "go fishing" draw?

Last month a decent number among our newsletter readers took time out to participate in our survey. Only 3 - 4 questions were asked:

1. In your honest opinion, what is Wood You Like doing well (if not best)
2. In your honest opinion, what is Wood You Like doing not so well (if not bad)
3. In your honest opinion, what is missing in the Wood You Like range of products and services or from their websites?
4. What has been the decisive factor in your decision to purchase/accept a quotation from Wood You Like Ltd?

A whopping 88.2% of the responders on Q1 and Q4 listed receiving free advice on any wooden flooring related question and information on (new) products or tips as our best point, closely followed by the availability of quality products. Or as we read:

* Keeping tradesmen/DIYers informed on new products and tech tips. Answering questions that many companies wouldn't feel comfortable offering free advice on.
* Being the voice of "The man on the ground". No jargon speak and simple effective communication without the sales "waffle"
* Customer service and support. Free with advice - and quality advice at that. That allied to providing the right products makes them the main reason I carried on using my wooden floor and not covering it up with laminate I'd even gone and bought. Because of the advice and support given I have binned this plan and now have a garage full of laminate to get rid of.
* the product was different of what we were looking for, but the service and help was much better than our local supplier who was unhelpful and really couldn't be bothered, amazing really, you would think people would want the business !!

Absolutely great to read our aim to supply (and install) the best products suited for your circumstances, interior design wishes and budget, but also to give the best possible advice in this regards is right on track.

However, we also know there is always room for improvement and therefore we were very eager to learn the answers to Q2: In your honest opinion, what is Wood You Like doing not so well (if not bad).
It seems 70% of responders agreed with each other and almost made us blush: don't know, nothing I can think of, nothing as far as I can see, you're doing a great job etc.

Although absolutely great to hear the above, fortunately 30% suggested points/items we can improve on and again most were in agreement: delivery charges on fitting/finishing and maintenance products when ordering online or over the phone.

As stated in the intro of this newsletter, things have been/are rather hectic for us at the moment - in a good way!

We had hoped to announce the finished implementation of our brand new webshop in this newsletter, but it's not completely complete.
This webshop allows us a much better control over which product or combination of products incurs which delivery charge, and combined with having found a better, more reliable and funnily enough cheaper courier means a reduction on delivery charges on many popular items (see also short news)

(It also means an end to the Newsletter Readers Only Offer on the delivery charge for two maintenance products - we'll let you know what will replace this as soon as we're ready to officially launch the new "shop".)

Have a first look at our webshop, most of the popular items can already be ordered here.

There are more results from the survey to report - it would go too far to fill this newsletter with only this item.

A heartfelt thank you! from us to everyone who took time off to participate in this survey, it has given us a tremendous amount of valuable information on our business performance.
The 5 winners of the £20.00 voucher to "go fishing" have been drawn out a summer hat, and the prize should be with you shortly. Congratulations and happy fishing!

Introducing 10/3 wooden floors - a brand new addition to our ranges!

There's 15mm Wood-Engineered flooring with a 4mm Solid top layer, 20mm with a 6mm Solid top layer and now there is 10mm real Wood-Engineered flooring with a smashing 3mm Solid top layer. Not a wood-veneer which has a top layer of maximum 2mm (often only 0.6mm) - the 10/3 range is definitely a genuine Wood-Engineered floor.

Where height is an issue and you want to show nature's best, the variety of colours (and species) in the 10/3 could well be the best solution for you!

3mm Solid top layer of Oak, American Oak, Maple or Walnut on 7mm plywood backing with a quality T&G construction for easy installation. The floor can be installed floating or glued down (with flexible adhesive) and is suitable to be installed over UFH systems.

Available in Oak Nature, Rustic and Mill Run grade, in various widths, colours and treatments, plus in American Oak, Maple and American Walnut for very decent prices!

Further details can be found here - once again a matter of not enough hours in a day, this 10/3 range is one of a few other exciting products we are introducing in the very near future, which means all hands on deck to update the Full Colour Online Wooden Floor Range Brochures too.

The Basic Range brochure is again up to date with this addition - other brochures will be updated with their new additions shortly.

So, stay tuned!

Short round of other news:

Delivery charges on 15 kg tubs F.ball: still £ 25.00 we're afraid. Two reasons for this: we ourselves cannot store (or ship for that matter) large quantities of adhesive and since we no longer sell Lecol5500 the only accessory supplier in our books (at the moment) to stock the replacement F.Ball Styccobond B91 and B92 charges us £ 25.00 (or more) for direct shipment to your address.
We are in high hopes this will change very soon so we can lower the delivery charge for these products too.
(If you only need a small quantity, we are able to ship 1 tub of 7.5 kg B91 or B92 from our showroom for £15.00 ex VAT with our new courier.)

DIY stories: our email inbox is a treasure trove of success stories:
Mahogany Parquet Floor - with some persistence a beautiful result
and
The saga of the 5-finger mosaic floor painstakingly re-installed (a real saga, so make yourself a cup of tea, coffee first)

Saicos Floor Care Set: another product introduced recently to our range of quality maintenance products. A comprehensive box containing Wash Care, Wax Care, cloths and instructions of use. Not just for wooden floors finished with Saicos floor oils, any oiled/waxed floor will benefit from the Floor Care Set

Remember, the "newsletter readers only offer" is about to change but still valid every time you order 2 or more maintenance products from our existing "old" webshop, see the link below.
